While the rest of the British Royal Family wouldn’t be caught dead standing in the same room as Meghan Markle right about now, Princess Eugenie might have just confirmed her Sussex Squad membership by participating in Meghan’s new initiative. Here’s what you need to know!
For her 40th birthday, the Duchess of Sussex announced her ’40 x 40’ initiative, in which she asked 40 influential people to help mentor women and help them get back into the work force. And one of those women happen to be Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie.
Princess Eugenie Just Confirmed Herself To Be A Sussex Squad Member
Taking to her Instagram stories, Eugenie wrote on Meghan’s birthday: “To celebrate dear Meghan’s 40th birthday I’m contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women reentering the workforce. In the past two years, tens of millions of women around the world have departed the workforce. If you can, please join me and commit 40 minutes to community, service or mentorship.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for royal critics to weigh in on the matter.
Many of them wrote, “Eugenie’s support, to me, was a big message in the context of the royal family and the British media. When I saw “dear Meghan” I thought “good for you Eugenie.” She just broke every BM narrative about how the entire royal family has rejected Meghan,” along with, “ I always found it odd that Kate never befriended Beatrice and Eugenie. In all the stories that have come out about the York sisters over the years, I have never seen anything about them being unpleasant people. So the fact that we only ever had stories about how bad the relationship was between them and Kate was very telling. Especially considering how Eugenie and Meghan apparently hit it off right away.”
