She’s a princess and she can cut her hair anyway that she wants, ok? Prince Albert’s wife Princess Charlene has recently hit back at critics who have nothing nice to say about her ‘half hawk’ hairstyle. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, Princess Charlene is certainly not concerned about what other people think of her hairstyle. She caused quite a stir when she debuted her “half hawk” cut instead of her usual signature bob.

The royal kept her hair concealed with a hat during a boat christening but later revealed it to the world when it was time for her to hand out gifts for local children. The mother-of-two shaved her head on one side and at the back of her neck.

Princess Charlene told French magazine Point de Vue, “This haircut was my decision.”

“It seems that it has provoked all kinds of comments,” she shared. “But it turns out that I wanted it for a long time. The style pleases me. That’s all.”

Princess Charlene went on to call herself an ‘uncommon princess’ and that she has no plans to change her ways anytime soon.

“Certainly, of all the members of royal families, I’m probably the one who has tried the most different hairstyles, and I’ll continue,” said Charlene. “That’s my choice.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Princess Charlene’s looks, hairstyle or even her demeanor has caused a stir in Monaco. She was heavily criticized for appearing to either be “distant” or “not smiling” by the local press. That’s why Charlene says that she’s not surprised at all over all the negative attention that she is getting over her hair.

“The remarks of ‘But what is she doing?’ and ‘But it’s not royal!’ – I know these all too well,” Charlene explained. “And I have nothing to say to them, except that we’re in 2021 and that in these times which are so troubling, so difficult, there are other, much more important subjects which deserve our attention.”
