Prince William and Kate Middleton have had to react to make sure their kids are coping well in light of Prince Philip’s death.
George and Charlotte Left Upset By Prince Philip’s Death
According to a source, the couple told their kids the following: “[Prince Philip has [gone to heaven [and] ‘is an angel now. They’re still so young, so he and Kate wanted to let them down gently.” So how did the kids take it? Well, as could be expected, not too well. They have also sadly seen their uncle Prince Harry and their auntie Meghan Markle fall out with their family.
This setback, though, did hit a nerve as the children got very emotional. The source added: “Naturally, the children are very upset, particularly George and Charlotte. Louis is still very young and had only met Prince Philip a couple of times.” Despite the sadness, it has not stopped the kids from remembering Philip. And by all accounts, they are also looking to honour him in their own way.
They have already made preparations by making changes to their home, as a way to say thank you to their grandpa. The source continued: “George, Charlotte and Louis helped William choose a photograph of Prince Philip to hang in their home in memory of him.” Death is, sadly, a topic that William is all too familiar with. After all, he was very young when Princess Diana had tragically passed away following her car accident in Paris.
That is why William is seeking to cherish the moments he has with his own kids. In a statement given in response to Philip’s death, he said: “I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa.”
William has been criticised in the past for not opening up following his mother’s death. This is something he is changing when it comes to his own kids. Unlike other parents, they have not shielded the news from their children.
In a previous interview with CALMzine, Williams spoke on how he wants his kids to be able to express themselves. He said: “Catherine and I are clear that we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions.”
