Prince William and Kate Middelton shred a sweet tribute to their adorable dog, Orla, on National Pet Day. The couple recently returned from a family ski trip in the French Alps. They were with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and released this rare family snap.

William And Kate Celebrated Their Dog, Orla

The royal couple took to Instagram and posed a never-before-seen picture of their black cocker spaniel, Orla, to commemorate the annual Celebration of Pets.

The Future King and Queen of England wrote, “Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship, and love to our lives this National Pet Day.” Beside the post were cute paw prints and dog emojis.

The message was accompanied by a picture of beautiful Orla, who was sitting in the grass staring off into the distance. Her coat appeared wet after she had seemingly had an epic outdoor adventure. She was with her doting pet parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William.

The Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed Orla in 2020, the same year their beloved family dog, Lupo, passed away.

An inside source close to Prince William and Kate Middleton disclosed, “They were devastated when Lupo passed away. It was hoped that the younger dog would give Lupo some company and give him a little more life and energy.”

The cocker spaniel was the puppy of Kate’s brother, James Middleton’s dog, Ella. James is known for his love and devotion to dogs and is currently the proud pet parent of six adorable dogs. He also breeds cocker spaniels.

James is the dedicated patron of several animal charities. He wrote a book called, “Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life.” He also established his own dog food brand, affectionately named James & Ella.

James’ pups include Zulu, Inka, Luna, Mabel, Nala, and Isla. Kate and William’s family companion, Orla, is a close companion to their three children and watches over them with loyalty and adoration.

Dogs Are Trusted And Beloved Companions In The Royal Family

The name Orla translates from Gaelic to mean “Golden Princess.” In October, William revealed that Orla often sleeps with him and Princess Catherine in bed.

Before William married Kate, James Middleton was asked whether it was a prerequisite for the future King to love dogs before he could officially “join the Middelton family.”

James playfully smiled and responded that he was satisfied with William’s appreciation for animals.

“He had a long love of dogs. He had a very strong relationship with a black lab named Wigeon growing up. So he knew the powers of what dogs can do.”

James discussed the special bonds each member of his family had developed with dogs. His 18-month-old son, Inigo, “fell in love with” his golden retriever, Isla.

During the interview, he heartwarmingly spoke of how his son liked to get down on all fours and pretend he was like Isla. Inigo can’t get his day started without being greeted by Isla.

An enduring love of dogs runs in William’s family. Throughout her life, after she acceded to the throne in 1952, until the day she died in 2022, his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, owned a grand total of thirty corgis, possibly more.

They paid their respects and showed love to the Queen. This was during her funeral procession, which made its way to St. George’s Chapel.
