There’s only so much that a young 7-year-old future King of England can take, and especially while in the spotlight. There’s a new report that suggests Prince William and Kate Middleton will be keeping their son Prince George out of the limelight because of all the nasty comments they received about the young tot following his last appearance at the Euro 2020 final. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince George was submitted to some abuse on social media after he attended the Euro 2020 final, in which England lost to Italy in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
Prince William And Kate Middleton Are Keeping Prince George Out Of The Spotlight
The young tot was given the meme treatment when he erupted in cheers following England’s first goal of the game. He and his parents were also mocked for their looks of sorrow when it was made official that England had lost the final.
However, there were also a lot of people that just couldn’t help but wonder why Prince George went to the game in a suit and tie, when he could have been wearing a football jersey just like so many other young boys his age.
While on the Australian breakfast television show Sunrise, royal expert Robert Jobson said, “Some were critical about him wearing a shirt and tie like his dad which I thought was very harsh. He has been very popular but I think they are going to try and keep him out of the limelight a little bit. [William and Kate] are very conscious of that.”
The online bullying got so bad that some Scottish fans called Prince George a “twerp” and told him to cry in his tie when England lost the game on penalties.
Even British talk show host Lorraine Kelly thought his suit and tie was a bit on the excessive side. She said, “He was a wee cut down man, they had him in a suit and tie. God love him they should have let him wear a football strip, for goodness sake.”
