It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can at least count on one former staff member to stay in their corner. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s former chief of staff member is defending the Hollywood actress against all of the accusations made that suggest she was “difficult” to work with.
Instead, Catherine St. Laurent describes Meghan as someone with “incredible” experience, as she has a positive experience working for the couple. Here’s what you need to know.
St. Laurent joined Harry and Meghan’s team in April of 2020 as the chief of staff of their nonprofit organization, Archewell Foundation. Before joining the Sussexes, she worked for the Bill Gates and Melinda Gates foundation.

Speaking to The Cut in a new interview, St. Laurent said, “It was an incredible experience. They are incredibly talented and creative leaders. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to do that, to be able to be with them on their journey. The time that I spent with them was incredibly fulfilling. I think they have the potential to be very influential leaders in the social-impact space. I look forward to continuing to be a part of that.”
This comes after some royal staff members said that Meghan Markle was a royal terror in the making behind the scenes.
According to royal expert Penny Junor in the new ITV documentary, ‘Harry and William: What Went Wrong,’ Meghan’s showbiz approach to royal life ruffled some feathers. She claims that the former ‘Suits’ star was not as charming as she seemed to a lot of people.
Junor put it this way, “I was hearing very bad stories from early on that Meghan was upsetting people. Our Royal Family are not celebrities. They are working members of a public institution. I was appalled by the Oprah Winfrey interview. These are not statements that should be made for public consumption. This is the sort of thing that should happen in the privacy of a psychiatrist’s couch.”
