Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s approach to a Christmas invitation to Sandringham in Norfolk, England, is deemed “pathetic” by royal experts.
Royal expert Richard Eden explains that the couple being with the royal family for Christmas could be very tense for everyone involved.
Harry and Meghan Said They “Would Not Decline” an Invitation
Harry and Meghan said they “would not decline” an offer to spend the holidays with King Charles. The way they are going about mending the royal rift is embarrassing.
Eden said, “This reminds me of the school disco, where if you’re not brave enough to ask a girl to a dance, you say, “Oh, my mate fancies you.”
It’s more like being in junior high, and instead of asking someone out directly, you confide in someone, and pretty soon, the whole school finds out.
Eden points out that no one hears the Sussexes say they want to go to Sandringham. Instead, they are throwing the idea out there, hoping the King will extend an invitation.
Harry and Meghan’s friends are putting it out there that they would accept an invitation. A source close to the couple told The Sunday Times,
“I can’t imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty. As of yet, there have not been any invitations for the holidays.”
An invitation that comes after a long year of trying to damage the integrity of the royal family by spewing accusations like fire and Harry writing a tell-all memoir may not be a reality for the Duke and Duchess.
Of course, Harry and Meghan could try to convince King Charles to come to California. He could see the grandchildren, but rumor has it the Duke and Duchess are holding out hope for Sandringham.
The Sussexes Are Acting Skittish
Harry and Meghan need to summon the courage to ask the King directly. This little game they are playing of being skittish and coy is quite childish.
Harry and Meghan had to vacate their UK home at Frogmore Cottage a couple of weeks before “Spare” hit the shelves earlier this year.
The Sussex’s move to California also created a further divide between them and the royal family. Without a formal place to stay in the UK, Harry and Meghan would require an invitation. The King would have to invite them so they may be able to come for Christmas.
Royal experts think that it may not be the right time for the couple to try and push for a reconciliation with the royal family.
Eden suggests that “letting it be known through friends” that they want an invitation from the King is somewhat pathetic.
No one knows for sure whether Harry and Meghan will be in Sandringham for the holidays. However, they may be in for a very unpleasant surprise when their presence is not received well.
Harry and Meghan’s only incentive for King Charles is that he hasn’t seen his grandchildren in a long time. Dangling the “kid carrot” may persuade the King to extend an invitation to them for Christmas.
If the Duke and Duchess had just stayed in the UK as working royals, they wouldn’t need to be “putting it out there” that they wouldn’t “decline an invitation” because they would already be on the list.
The rift between the royal family members will be ongoing and expansive. Let us know what you think in the comment section below. For more soap opera and entertainment news, please visit again Daily Soap Dish,
