Royal expert Richard Eden says that Harry and Meghan are still not welcome to family engagements. Harry and Meghan are desperate to get back into the royal fold.
They facilitated the leaking of private family business, which doesn’t help their image or brand.
Richard Eden Weighs in On the Birthday Call by Harry and Meghan
Eden asks the pertinent question on everyone’s mind: How did the BBC know about Harry’s birthday call to his father before it even happened? How did tabloids comprehend what father and son said to each other?
The Sussexes are obviously vying for publicity, and since their plan to turn everyone against the royal family failed, they are trying a new approach.
They are crawling back to the royals and trying to return to their good graces. Could the rumors about Harry and Meghan planning to return to the UK possibly be true?
New information has come to light that the royal family did not invite Harry and Meghan to King Charles’s birthday party, and with good reason.
“The fact that details of a private conversation were published so quickly might serve as a warning ahead of any possible future invitations.”
Eden is the editor of the Daily Mail Confidential. He studies the royals for a living. He said,
“While Buckingham Palace officials have adamantly refused to disclose any details of King Charles’s private birthday celebrations, sources with knowledge of Harry’s intentions briefed the BBC that he would telephone his father on his birthday.”
It is difficult for the royal family to trust the Sussexes after they purposefully leaked the private specifics of their birthday phone calls to King Charles.
The Sussexes Image is Tainted
Private family conversations have been exploited to help boost Harry and Meghan’s image, even though it did the exact opposite of what they believed it would do.
Their 2021 interview with Oprah garnered them some empathy from the US, but the more the public learned about the Sussexes, the less they liked them.
Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare,” did not help their brand. However, it did provide them with some cash.
Now, people aren’t interested in hearing their side of the story. Privacy has been violated, and lies have been told.
Sussex’s most significant obstacle is that they do not use discretion when discussing the royal family. They are too hungry for the media to pay attention to them.
The evidence of this is obvious. The Daily Telegraph is one of the few British newspapers that Harry will converse with. Suddenly, they leaked the details of Harry’s private phone call with his father. It doesn’t take a royal expert to determine how they arrived at that information.
The Telegraph also reported that Meghan called King Charles to wish him a happy birthday, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, sang a cheerful rendition of “Happy Birthday” to him. Charles was delighted to hear from his grandchildren.
It’s nice that Harry is trying to patch things up with his father. However, Harry and Meghan are still not welcome at family events. If they try to return to the UK, things will get interesting.
