To avoid looking foolish, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to be careful and strategic in their actions during King Charles III’s Coronation.
Harry And Meghan Need To Be Careful In Response To Charles’ Coronation-‘Likely To Make Them Look Foolish,’ Says Pauline MacLaran
That is according to PR expert Pauline MacLaran. According to her, a possible solution to safeguard their reputation in the United States would be for Harry to go alone, without Meghan, who would stay to celebrate their eldest child Archie’s fourth birthday.
The pair have revealed that they have been invited to the momentous occasion on May 6th. But the day has an additional significance as it marks the birthday of Archie.
It is believed that King Charles III desires the presence of Sussexes at the event. However, the Sussexes have been vocal about their grievances with the Royal Family in the past few months, and Harry’s memoir Spare contains explosive allegations and opinions.
With that being said, this is what MacLaran had to say: “Yet, if they do go and are cold-shouldered – both by other royals and the British public as well – this is likely to make them look foolish.
“Overall, it seems to me that a compromise is best for them and that Harry attends on his own while Meghan uses the excuse of Archie’s birthday.”
And yet, Luana Ribeira, another PR specialist, believes that the attendance of both the Duke and Duchess at the coronation ceremony of the King is necessary.
The California-based couple would be able to change their image to the British public by being prominently visible.
After the news of their invitation, there has been an increase in speculation regarding Harry and Meghan’s attendance, however, they have not yet revealed their decision.
As such, Ribeira had this to say: “From a PR perspective, I think Harry and Meghan should attend the coronation.
“They are unlikely to be given a key role but Harry IS the King’s son and a decision to stay away would be a much stronger statement than a decision to attend.”
The social media response was very clear. Large numbers of people felt it was not a good idea for the couple to attend since they had burnt too many bridges, which there was no coming back from.
One person wrote: “Even if Henry comes on his own he will be ignored and booed! So will still look a fool! The court jester?”
