Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a lucrative book deal. Unfortunately for the Duchess, a PR expert warned her not to release her memoir in 2024.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Signed a Four Book Deal
In July 2021, the two agreed to a deal with Penguin Random House to write four books. Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare,” hit the shelves in January 2023.
Harry’s highly anticipated memoir became the largest-selling book ever in its first week in print. It received some favorable reviews.
There is talk of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle teaming up and writing a book about leadership and philanthropy. There may also be a book focused on wellness in the works.
Before the book deal, Meghan published a children’s book called “The Bench” in June 2021. So, with her already being a “children’s author,” she will want to try her hand at something new.
Rumor has it that the Duchess will follow in her husband’s footsteps and release a sensational memoir of her own. The fourth book might be Meghan’s story.
PR expert Lynn Carratt has warned the Duchess not to release her memoir in 2024. She explains,
“Meghan will want to talk about her marriage to Harry, her relationship with King Charles and Camilla, Kate and William. I’m sure fans would like her to talk about her relationship with her father, Thomas, but she isn’t that forthcoming about that side of her life.”
Meghan would be wise to wait for the controversy created by Harry’s “Spare” and Omid Scobie’s “Endgame” to fade before she entertains the idea of releasing her memoir, which will take some time.
Meghan Should Wait for Lingering Controversy to Fade Before Releasing Her Memoir
The public has been bombarded with stories about Harry and Meghan non-stop since they left the royal family in January 2020. It seems as though the Sussexes have taken over the media ever since then.
The result of Harry and Meghan’s over-exposure has been, unfortunately for them, significant backlash from the public, as well as the royal family.
“Spare” vilified Harry’s brother, Prince William. In the book, Harry recounts an altercation between the brothers that turned physical when William allegedly threw Harry into the dog bowl, resulting in cuts all over his body.
The Dutch version of “Endgame” named King Charles and Kate Middleton as the “royal racists” after Meghan claimed there were alleged “conversations” about what Prince Archie would look like and how dark his skin would be when he was born.
Scobie, who has been dubbed “Meghan’s mouthpiece,” likely had help writing “Endgame.” Meghan may have cooperated with Scobie and provided him with some information.
Meghan lied about not having anything to do with Scobie’s “Finding Freedom” but later admitted to the High Court that she cooperated with him to write the book.
Carratt says that Meghan should be focusing on her philanthropy work. It will be a healthy distraction from negative publicity and healing for her.
There is plenty of time for her to write and release a book. Meghan doesn’t need to do it so soon after all the scandals. Now is the time for Harry and Meghan to choose a better path for 2024.
