Apparently, Prince Andrew gave his mother a puppy so she would feel less lonely following the death of her husband of 72 years, Prince Philip. Here’s what you need to know.
According to The Sun, Queen Elizabeth – who has always been a big fan of corgis – received the puppy from Prince Andrew and his two daughters, princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

“The Queen has had a rough time and she is absolutely delighted to have a new corgi,” an insider told The Sun.
Sources say that Andrew and his daughters present the puppy to the Queen back on Thursday, which would have been Prince Philip’s 100th birthday.
This isn’t the first time that Andrew has tried to win brownie points with his mother and the public. Back in April, the Duke of York gifted his mother the puppies to help her whenever she feels “down and alone” in her castle.
Right after his father’s death, Prince Andrew told the public that his mother Queen Elizabeth has been left with a huge void in her life in the wake of the death of her beloved husband. Andrew, the third of the couple’s four children, spoke as well-wishers arrived to leave floral tributes outside the gates of the royal residence in memory of Prince Philip.
Andrew said his mother “described it as having left a huge void in her life.”
“We’ve lost, almost, the grandfather of the nation,” he said. “And I feel very sorry and supportive of my mother, who’s feeling it probably more than everybody else.”
