Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, have demanded two royal properties in exchange for vacating Royal Lodge.

Andrew And Sarah Want To Live Apart In Two Separate Homes

Prince William and Kate Middleton are about to move from Adelaide Cottage and into their new forever home, Forest Lodge.

Andrew and Sarah want both Adelaide Cottage and Frogmore Cottage, which was once home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The former spouses have agreed that Frogmore is too small for both of them to live in, but have insisted that King Charles give them the two separate properties.

Harry and Meghan were given Frogmore Cottage as a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II, in the hopes that it would serve as their permanent residence.

Yet, Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in January 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, where they now live with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Adelaide Cottage has been home to the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, since shortly after the Queen’s passing.

Neither royal residence would be at the taxpayer’s expense, which is part of the reason Andrew and Sarah are being forced out of Royal Lodge, where they lived for over 20 years.

The British taxpayers, understandably, no longer wanted to foot the bill for the former Duke and Duchess of York to remain at the sprawling mansion that was the Queen Mother’s first home until her death in 2002.

Andrew had struggled to keep up with the numerous repairs required on the property, despite living there rent-free.

Parliament Will Address Andrew’s Numerous Scandals

If the King agreed to meet Andrew and Sarah’s demands, it would be the first time since 2008 that the former couple had lived apart. Sarah moved into Royal Lodge five years after Andrew inherited the property. It would be a fresh start for both.

The Daily Mail correspondent, Richard Fitzwilliams, said,

“If they think that having two homes, which I’m sure the King won’t agree to, is likely to solve things, they’re still living in a rather weird fantasy world.”

    Fitzwilliams continued,

“There’s no reason at all that Fergie should have her own Crown Estate home. This is an idea that Andrew has had to give up the 30-room Royal Lodge. Well, let’s have two. I don’t see it working.”

    He added,

“If it were adopted, there’d be outrage. She’s not been a working royal since 1992. The idea that she should get anything on the Crown Estate, it doesn’t matter what she wants, she’s getting out of touch with reality, as he has so obviously been.”

Fitzwilliams claims that if the King were to agree, it would be a highly controversial decision. He called both Andrew and Fergie “greedy and entitled.”

It was also revealed that in 2011, Andrew had asked a police protection officer to investigate and dig up dirt on his victim, Virginia Giuffre.

Plans are in progress for Parliament to address the scandals surrounding Andrew. This will include his friendship with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew’s brother, King Charles, has long wanted him to leave Royal Lodge. Now, Andrew is demanding two separate homes for him and Sarah. His demands have sparked considerable public outrage.
