Earlier today, President Trump replied to King Charles’s offer for the U.S. to join the British Commonwealth as an associate member.
When the news hit social media, many people scoffed at the idea, claiming “it would never happen.” However, it appears that the naysayers were wrong.
Trump Supports King Charles’s Plan As Queen Camilla Played A Key Role In Setting The Stage
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that he fully supported the plan.
“I love King Charles,”
He gushed.
“Sounds good to me.”
Apparently, Queen Camilla had a significant behind-the-scenes role in setting the stage for today’s shocking announcement.
According to the Daily Mail journalist Richard Eden,
“Andy Wigmore, a key ally of Nigel Farge and friend of Donald Trump, told me today that Governor Phil Bryant, then Governor of Mississippi, and his team came to Buckingham Palace when she was Duchess of Cornwall,”
He revealed.
“They talked about the Commonwealth at length, about its significance, at a Palace reception. For Governor Bryant, that was amazing. He said, ‘She wants the Commonwealth to happen in America.”
The proposal was initially made in 2017 by the Royal Commonwealth Society during Trump’s first term and has now been restored for his second term. The idea had the full backing of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The offer comes after Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance blasted Ukrainian President Zelensky for not showing enough gratitude or respect to the U.S. as Trump claimed he was trying to help him end the war in his country, which Russian dictator Putin initiated.
The King Supports Canada As Trump Has Threatened Annexation
After the embarrassing debacle, the King warmly welcomed Zelensky at Sandringham, and Zelensky received help from the U.K. as he was provided with funds and military assistance. Apparently, Charles’ graciousness toward Zelensky had him fuming.
Charles has also openly demonstrated support for Canada as Trump has threatened annexation and making Canada the 51st state. Canada is part of the Commonwealth of Nations.
The President has also imposed tariffs for goods on many Canadian imports. He has threatened to raise import taxes even higher, which could trigger a recession in Canada.
It has been suggested that the addition of the U.S. to the commonwealth might assuage conflict between Trump and Canada.
The King is a peacemaker and believes in the collective harmony of all nations. He is expected to host Trump at Balmoral later this year as Charles personally invited the President for a historic second state visit.
All 56 countries that are currently part of “the family of nations” are full members of the Commonwealth and are described as “independent and equal.”
Most of these countries have roots in the British Empire. However, the last four countries to join, Mozambique, Rwanda, Gabon, and Togo, do not have links to the British Empire.
Insiders Hope The U.S. Will Advance From Associate To Full Membership
America declared independence from Britain in 1776. However, this wouldn’t interfere with the U.S. becoming the 57th member of the Commonwealth.
Countries with membership are expected to comply with the fundamental values of the Commonwealth. These include being a democracy, international cooperation, peace and prosperity, mutual respect and support, and acknowledging the King as Head of the Commonwealth.
Insiders are hopeful that if the U.S. joins the Commonwealth, it will advance from an associate membership to full membership, which would strengthen the Commonwealth as a global organization.
In his annual Commonwealth Day speech this year, the King said,
“In these uncertain times, it is all too easy to believe that our differences are problems instead of a source of strength and an opportunity for learning. The Commonwealth’s remarkable collection of nations and peoples come together in the spirit of support and, crucially, friendship.”
He added, “The commonwealth’s ability to bring people together from all over the world has stood the test of time and remains as ever-important today.”
