Could it be that Prince Charles might have a long lost brother that he doesn’t know about? Maybe, maybe not. But President Joe Biden did say that Queen Elizabeth does remind him of his own mother after they met at Windsor Castle on Sunday afternoon. Here’s what you need to know.

President Biden, along with his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, had tea at Windsor Castle with Queen Elizabeth II, the British monarch who has reigned for more than 60 years, before he was to depart the United Kingdom.

Apparently, their meeting went very well.

“We had a long talk. She was very generous. I don’t think she’d be insulted but she reminded me of my mother. In terms of the look of her and just the generosity,” he said.

He added: “She was very gracious.”

President Biden and the First Lady walked into the castle with the monarch via the Sovereign’s Entrance. It is believed the visit overran by 10 minutes.

Biden and the queen have met at least once before, back in 1982, when he was serving as a Democratic senator from Delaware. He traveled to the U.K. that year for a meeting of the British-American Parliamentary Group, according to a White House review of his Senate records.

It’s also been noted that over the course of her reign, the 95-year-old monarch has met with every US President except Lyndon Johnson. Biden will be the 12th U.S. president Queen Elizabeth has met face-to-face.

A few months ago, when asked if Biden wanted to meet the Queen while in the U.K., Press Secretary Jen Psaki replied: “Who wouldn’t want to meet the Queen?”
