For one, Piers Morgan is not complaining about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The former “Good Morning Britain” host is pointing his finger at the President of the United States, Joe Biden, for his decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
As a result, The Taliban moved into several cities in the country in recent weeks, culminating in the takeover of the capital city of Kabul over the weekend. The U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 ousted the insurgents from power, but they never left.
Currently, between 50,000-65,000 Afghan partners and their families are trying to get out of the country. Biden has defended his administration’s execution of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, saying that he doesn’t think the crisis represent a failure and there that was no way better to handle the situation.
Piers Morgan Has Strong Words For President Biden Over Afghanistan Chaos
However, Piers Morgan is not buying it. The outspoken television personality took to his Twitter account to express his feelings on the matter. He wrote: “President Biden said ‘the buck stops with me’ over this deadly Afghanistan fiasco – then promptly passed the buck to the Afghans, Donald Trump, and anyone else he could think of to get himself off the rap of an unfurling military & humanitarian catastrophe. Shameless and shameful.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for both his fans and his critics to weigh in.
Many of them responded with, “Worst thing about it was he was reading off a scripted speech and that was the best they could come up with. His actions in Afghanistan are going to impact us all for years to come sadly now,” along with, “Serious questions need to be asked about the Afghan army and leaders. Downing weapons that have been supplied from the west at the first sign of trouble. You can’t help people that won’t help themselves. I feel for the soldiers who gave their life /limbs/ mental health. FOR WHAT?”
Another critic wrote, “There is enough blame to go around. Biden has accepted responsibility for his part. There is rank hypocrisy in some of the criticisms by some. Afghanistan is not about just the end of this 20 year war. It is about the start and everything since.”
