Okay, before anyone starts feeling bad for D’artagnan, the baby Demogorgon that Dustin raised in season 2 of Stranger Things, don’t. I’m pretty sure he’s still wreaking havoc in the upside down somewhere in his natural habitat. What we’re talking about happened in the drive-in show in Los Angeles, a thing which I must admit I did not know existed.

Timothy J. Hearl said that during the full-blown COVID pandemic of 2020 the actors were forced into unsafe working conditions. A report said that when he tried bringing his superior’s attention to the matter and emailing them about his concern about getting the virus that he was then stripped of his Demogorgon role and was relegated to a scientist role where he wore a hazmat suit.

He then said that he had started feeling sick on-set, not from COVID but rather some really intense car exhaust fumes from the enclosed parking garage where they held the productions. He also stated that sometime in November he almost got hit by a car during one of the productions.

The only thing that Hearl was asking for is that the actors are fitted with carbon monoxide detectors but that request was apparently too much to ask for and the actor was let go. When asked why he was suddenly aced he was given the reason that he had made the women on the set uncomfortable, but he assured the production team that he was ‘actually gay’ but they maintained that he was fired due to a client’s request.

The actor, just like a lot of other people who have lost their jobs during the pandemic said that he has suffered from sleeplessness, emotional distress, depression, and humiliation and is now suing Netflix as well as the production companies involved in the drive-in show.

Honestly, during a pandemic they need to be called out for unsafe working conditions, not that it would be better to work in unsafe conditions during a time that wasn’t a pandemic but having PPE around for the performers as well as a safe plan for social distancing during any kind of live-action show during these times should be in place.

Also, carbon monoxide poisoning is a thing and the detectors were not too much to ask for from a safety standpoint. Whether or not he made the female employees uncomfortable is up for debate because no female employees have come forward and said anything but I’m really doubting the word of management here and thinking that maybe they just wanted to cut a few corners by not erring 100% on the side of caution. We’ll keep an eye on this story here at DSD. Stay tuned!!!
