The trailer for Netflix’s ‘Horse Girl’ is out, and it is odd, to say the least. Odd, but interesting! ‘Horse Girl’ stars Alison Brie (‘Glow’, ‘Community’) as an average, crafts-loving girl who has trouble making friends. From the trailer, it appears her best friend is her fellow co-worker, Joan, played by Molly Shannon (‘SNL’, ‘Superstar’).

We get a bit of information from the trailer, but it still leaves us wondering just what the heck is going on. Sarah (Alison Brie) is a bit of a loner who seems to finally be able to cut loose and find something in a boy, Darren. A boy she meets from perhaps her only other friend. This is maybe where some of her problems start, as we see her first nose bleed while with him. This is commonly accounted for psychic abilities in about every other movie and television show ever. Although, is it truly psychic powers, or more of a spillover from something else?

According to a summary on IMDB, “A socially awkward woman with a fondness for arts and crafts, horses, and supernatural crime shows finds her increasingly lucid dreams trickling into her waking life.”

We also find out in the trailer that Sarah’s grandmother had a history of something. Sarah is worried that perhaps this illness has been passed down to her, but for fear of scaring her father doesn’t tell him. Instead, she embarks on a quest to find out information about her grandmother, and alien abductions.

This seems to all spiral down towards the final conclusion in the trailer. Sarah hears Joan’s voice tell her to put the phone down before Joan actually says it. Sparking a line that harkens back to ‘The Sixth Sense’. Sarah says, “I can hear the future.”

‘Horse Girl’ looks to be a very interesting psychological thriller and starring mostly comedic actors. Alison Brie Schermerhorn, Molly Shannon with appearances by Jay Duplass, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Robin Tunney. This is one you should add to your watchlist. ‘Horse Girl’ will release on Netflix next month on February 7.
