Netflix has released a trailer for a new thrilling series, The Stranger. Based on the novel by Harlen Coben, The Stranger is about people realizing they may not know someone as well as they think they do. A stranger comes along and drops some truth bombs on you and flips your world upside down. Who are these people and why do they know so much about our lives? What drives us to believe them? This new series will explore all of this as a family man, Adam Price (Richard Armitage) begins to unravel the strange truth that he doesn’t know about his own wife!

Harlan Coben’s novel was released only a few years ago in 2015 but has already made an impact. According to a short summary of the novel, “The Stranger appears out of nowhere, perhaps in a bar, or a parking lot, or at the grocery store. Their identity is unknown. His motives are unclear. His information is undeniable. Then he whispers a few words in your ear and disappears, leaving you picking up the pieces of your shattered world.”
It appears that the Netflix series will follow the Price family as well, as Adam discovers the mystery of his wife. All is not as it seems as soon after he confronts her about a faked pregnancy, things escalate. Adam finds himself being questioned by the police about his wife. They have reason to believe that his wife was at the scene of a murder. Things just keep piling up for Adam, and we’ll be right there for the wild ride!
Official Trailer Looks Promising!
We’ve seen great and poor book adaptations, luckily with Netflix behind the helm, it looks to be fairly true to the novel. It will still follow the same family as they uncover the truth about their wife and mother, Corrine. Perhaps the only notable difference is the stranger themselves. In the novel, they are described as a man, whereas in the trailer we see a woman. Hannah John-Kamen, whom you might recognize as Ghost from Marvel’s Antman and Wasp, will portray the stranger. We even see her donning different clothes in the trailer as she presumably gains information on unsuspecting people.
The Stranger releases this month, January 30! You will be able to binge-watch the first season and find out what exactly is going on! The trailer builds suspense and looks very promising. Add this one to your watchlist now.
