‘Spenser Confidential’ is a new film coming to Netflix in a few months. It stars Mark Wahlberg (‘Mile 22’, ‘Shooter’) as Spenser. Spenser is an ex-Boston police officer who was framed for a crime. He’s spent the last five years in prison waiting to get out. Finally, he’s been released and is thrust back into the criminal underworld of Boston in an attempt to settle the score. It is a remake of the Tv show ‘Spenser for Hire’ (1985-1988) that starred Robert Urich and Avery Brooks as Spenser and Hawk respectively.

In the Netflix remake, alongside Wahlberg is Winston Duke as Hawk. Duke is best known for his role as M’Baku in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also stars Alan Arkin (‘Argo’, ‘Little Miss Sunshine’), Colleen Camp (‘Clue’, ‘Wayne’s World’), Marc Maron (‘Maron’, ‘Glow’), and introduces Post Malone to his first feature film.

Directing this film is none other than Peter Berg! Berg is no stranger to the action world or Mark Wahlberg. Having directed Wahlberg four times before in, ‘Lone Survivor’, ‘Patriot’s Day’, ‘Deepwater Horizon’ and most recently ‘Mile 22’. The dynamic between these two is undeniable and ‘Spenser Confidential’ is set up for success.

The trailer for ‘Spenser Confidential‘ shows us a mix for comedy and action. Including a diner scene where Spenser must fight off a group of thugs while Hawk sits in the car with headphones on. It isn’t until nearly the end of the fight that Hawk completely runs the car through the diner wall. It’s a perfect combination for Walhberg and I’m anxious to see how Winston Duke does in the role. He has been in films outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like ‘Us’ for example, but this will be a bit of a newer experience for him. I’ve enjoyed him and his work the last few years. This could be a good stepping stone for the young actor.

‘Spenser Confidential’ will be releasing on Netflix on March 6. Be sure to add this to your watchlist and get ready for an enjoyable movie experience.
