NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers indicate Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) suffered a devastating blow. He lost the custody case to Zoey Burge (Alyshia Ochse). We were somewhat expecting this, but it doesn’t mean we agree with the decision. Here’s why we think the writers got it wrong.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Soft touch

We somewhat blame Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) for this. We understand why she let Zoey leave, but had she been arrested, it might have helped Rafe’s position. That was just one in a line of sins Zoey committed that should have impacted her case.

We’ll admit, however, we do understand why she did it. A child’s life was possibly on the line, and Hope knows from experience the pain involved there. There’s another party that’s a bigger problem

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Biased?

We say the judge in the case is biased. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate Rafe is the Commissioner of the Salem PD. He’s also taken care of David for most of his life. Given Zoey threatened Rafe (and intimidated a witness to help get a murderer off), she never should’ve been considered. Plus, let’s not forget she and Evan Frears (Brock Kelly) showed they’re overall weak and easily controlled by their evil father. None of this looks good. This judge is just not being fair.

This is especially true given she literally made her decision, then ordered the exchange to be immediate. How on earth would a rational judge order a child to be ripped from the only home/parent they know without some kind of transition period? Sounds unfairly traumatic to a kid who was in no immediate danger in the home, nor was there any danger of Rafe running away with him.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Non-issue

We also take issue with another main reason for awarding custody—his biological father wanted it that way. Seriously? A man convicted of killing the child’s mother’s opinion should carry that much weight? His impulsive murder of Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Hartley) and his role in an accident/coverup that killed two people proves his judgement is questionable at best.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The future

Now that David is going to live with Zoey, we assume this is what will facilitate Galen’s departure. Zoey did offer to let him see David whenever he wanted, so we think he’ll decide to settle a little closer to where she is. While it’s nice to see he has hope of being some part of David’s life, we hate this development. Given the circumstances, couldn’t they have let Rafe leave the show on a good note? They could have had him get a job offer elsewhere, for one. That could have let him be happy, as Rafe never seems to catch a break.
