Days of our Lives fans know that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) recently brought Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) back from the dead after she was kept in suspended animation for years.
Lexie’s “Resurrection” Is a Cheap, Ridiculous Science Fiction Mess
Apparently, it was Stefano DiMera’s (Joe Mascolo) dying wish to “resurrect” Lexie after she passed away from cancer, due to her being kidnapped and held hostage in the DiMera tunnels. She developed cancer from the toxic fumes.
EJ and Dr. Rolf used a combination of his miracle serum and the sepsis drug, Versavix. EJ is counting on Versavix to be a cash cow that makes him billions.

In my opinion, resurrecting a character who had a highly emotional and respectful ending after dying from a brain tumor seems like lazy writing. Lexie’s death felt meaningful and final in 2012.
I think Lexie’s so-called resurrection is disrespectful to those who have had cancer or have had loved ones die or suffer from the disease.
Fan-favorite Renee Jones played the beloved character for nearly two decades. Her death was a genuine tearjerker that had a deep, significant impact on fans.

So, now Lexie is back, played by a different actress. To make matters worse, Lexie is also not herself at all.
She’s salty, rude, and was downright unfair to Paulina Price Carver (Jackee Harry). Paulina made the noble move and walked away from Abe Carver (James Reynolds) so that Lexie could reclaim her family.
Even EJ noticed that this version of Lexie is way more DiMera than she was. This storyline is this cheap, ridiculous, science-fiction mess.
“Miracles Don’t Come from the Devil”
Many viewers feel disconnected from this new actress. Nikki Crawford has just stepped into the role of Lexie. She portrays her the exact opposite of the Lexie we knew and loved.
The storyline is a bust, and Lexie’s relationship with Abe feels forced, which is off-putting. While Nikki Crawford seems like a good actress, she’s not Lexie.

Sometimes the dead need to stay dead, and that appears to be the case with EJ’s beloved sister, Lexie. Paulina really hit the nail on the head when she told EJ, “Miracles don’t come from the devil,” after he revealed Lexie in the cryogenic tube.
While DOOL is a show that leans into its wackiness, Lexie’s whole “resurrection” arc has been so over-the-top.
What has also become abundantly clear based on the DOOL summer preview is that Lexie isn’t going to get her happily ever after with Abe and her son, Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews).

Nikki Crawford Only Signed on for a Short-Term Contract
Lexie is already experiencing some disturbing symptoms, and one of the rats that was brought back to life by Dr. Rolf has also passed away, which is an ominous, telltale sign that Lexie will suffer the same fate.
Nikki Crawford, the new actress playing Lexie, only signed on for a short-term contract. Speculation is that she’s going to die of cancer all over again, so what the heck was the point of any of this?

Cancer is a serious, insidious disease, and yes, this is a soap but crafting a tale of fake cancer cures and beloved characters being brought back to life whose deaths were widely regarded as poignantly written isn’t the best way for DOOL to endear itself to viewers.
Some fans have even compared recasting Lexie similar to recasting Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso).
We can’t really support this storyline for countless reasons, but mostly because it’s simply a slap in the face to fans who watched Lexie tragically and beautifully die in her husband, Abe’s, arms well over a decade ago.
