NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) star Galen Gering will no longer be playing his character Rafe Hernandez on the long-running NBC show. And while the actor admits that he was pretty surprised himself about the producers’ decision to axe the character, he’s also both excited and a little anxious about what’s to come next. After all, he’s been on ‘Days of Our Lives’ for many long years. Here’s what he has to say.
According to Soaps in Depth, the actor had this to say recently, “It’s exciting. It is. Obviously, it’s not that simple… I think one has a multitude of emotions when you look at, like, potentially pursuing a whole new chapter or pursuing a whole new chapter, obviously. That’s really, like, you know, at it’s base, that’s certainly the actor’s job and the funny thing is, like, being an actor on a show where you go that long and are working so much, I mean, it definitely becomes golden handcuffs.”

With that said, Galen Gering definitely has a point. And while there’s no doubt that his fans will continue to support him with each and every move he makes, they will also be said to see him leave Salem. But then again, even daytime television fans know that anything can happen at any time too and that the door will always be open for an actor to return, should the storyline fit and be right. Until then, we will continue to support Galen in all that he does and of course, cross our fingers in the hopes that he will return sooner rather than later!
