It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Princess Gina (Alfonso) since stepping into Hope’s life. There’s that pesky file detailing a ton of mistakes on her part. Not to mention her conflict with Kate DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) and other complications that arose.
However, her recent standoff with Rafe was the kicker. ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers hint she overplayed her hand, so he called Shawn to come and deal with the situation as well. From the first moment they talked, you could see Shawn clearly took Rafe’s worries seriously. Of course, he thought it was a stress thing at first. Then, as she’s had a habit of, “Hope” came in to make things interesting.

She happened to barge in on Shawn and Rafe. “Hope” wasn’t a happy camper. She accused Rafe of going through her things and stealing from her. Things got heated enough for Shawn to step in, who she’d been oblivious to. It was almost comical to see her backtrack badly. Things got even worse when she ended up alone with Shawn.

We can’t stress enough how inept Gina is. Through their whole talk, she sounded pathetic. She claimed Rafe was almost obsessive and couldn’t deal with the fact she doesn’t want him. This, combined with her refusal to have dinner with him, seemed to be the final straw. He played things off far better than she did as “Hope” excused herself. But when Rafe returned, Shawn made things clear—that woman isn’t his mother.

It’s almost comical it takes someone who hasn’t even been around to notice right off. Yes, we did point out how things like this can happen. It just seems so strange to us it took everyone so long to worry. Shawn’s arrival is the end of Gina in charge, though. He managed to do in about five minutes what literally no one in Salem could do in over a year—he insisted Hope had to have been brainwashed into thinking she’s Gina. With the alert sounded, and the search for a now-missing Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) on, Stefano DiMera (Stephen Nichols) will surely fall next. “Steve Johnson” (Nichols) is about as suspicious as “Hope”, so Salem would have to have the collective IQ of dirt not to put those pieces together.
