NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal May 11th could be a rough day for Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). We mentioned not long ago we had some issue with Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
It seemed a bit cruel the way they had the character just cancel coming home at the last minute. Well, it looks like we might have more of that ahead. Let’s talk about what the teasers say and why we’re not okay with what might be ahead.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The situation
If you remember, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal Eric left Salem at Nicole’s urging when he got a temporary offer out of the country. She argued it was a good cause, and Eric ended up going.
The problem is, he was supposed to be back months ago. We’d written about his sudden decision to stay longer and help, as well as how terrible that was.
We’re sure at the time, Nicole figured that the time frame was set and he’d be back. After all, they’re finally newlyweds after years of drama. Including when Salem believed Nicole dead after the explosion in Dr. Wilhelm Rolf’s (William Utay) zombie factory. Now, we seem to have another blow coming.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The teaser
According to the teasers for Tuesday, Nicole gets bad news from Eric. As she’s in Salem and he’s not, we can’t imagine he’s breaking the news about Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) accident.
We’re assuming, then, that this means he’s staying longer. Again. And we’re not happy with that. It’s understandable that the actor announced a while back he was taking a break.
However, we think the way the show is handling this is making Eric look bad. And it’s definitely not doing much for our opinion of their timeless, finally made official love.
Why are we thinking this is another choice situation? Well, Nicole’s definitely been talking about Eric’s impending return. This is just like the last time, and given other spoilers indicate a moment of weakness and comfort with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), it’s going to be a while before we see Eric back in Salem.
Given Nicole was already jealous of Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) budding romance with Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), the moment she and Rafe shared, and her willingness to help break up a home by unleashing Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) on Brady? Well, she’s not looking so great, either.

We get it. It’s always hard when an actor wants to leave for a while. But as with the Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), they’re doing a great job of making Eric and Nicole a couple not to root for.
That trip could have been longer to start with, open-ended, or they could have had some other excuse for him to leave town. However, there is another option and we think the show/actors should be more willing/open to doing this.
By that, we mean re-casting. We’re not talking about a permanent situation here. For example, General Hospital had people take over two major characters for an extended time when the originals were unable to be there.
And most recently, two other characters were replaced for a few episodes until their portrayers returned. We remember hearing family watch the ABC shows back in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
It wasn’t exactly unheard of for a voice over to come in and say, “Today, the role of (insert character here) will be played by (actor).” Using this on DOOL could keep stories going without damaging the characters. Plus, it would be interesting to occasionally see how someone else could handle a role.
For now, we’ll have to keep waiting to see if Eric ever makes it home, or if he’ll keep Nicole hanging indefinitely. And how Nicole will deal when he returns, given what’s supposed to go down with her and Xander.
