In the new book by Mike Tindall, “The Good, the Bad, & the Rugby-Unleashed,” he discloses what Prince William and Kate Middleton are really like behind closed doors.
Mike Invited William And Kate To his Podcast
In September 20223, Mike Tindall welcomed the Prince and Princess of Wales and Princess Anne on his podcast, recorded during the Rugby World Cup, with co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne. Like the book’s title, Mike started his podcast with the same name in August 2020.
The podcast series involves the trio bantering about sports, social issues, and pop culture. It’s become very popular, earning a following of about three million subscribers.
When speaking about the royal couple, Mike said,
“I think the podcast humanized them a little bit, and I kind of wished they’d let us put the uncut version out because I think it would have blown the public away,”
Mike exclaimed.
“They came across as down-to-earth, fully engaged, funny, and knowledgeable. It was a far more enlightening chat than I expected, not because I thought they’d be dull, but because I know how everything to do with the royal family is so carefully controlled,”
He added.
Mike Tindall is the husband of Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall. He and Zara are not working members of the royal family, but he and his wife are busy.
Mike appears on TV and podcasts and has several small businesses to help care for his family. Zara has her projects and is an accomplished equestrian who competes in horse racing.
During the podcast, the subject of competitiveness was discussed. Mike made a joke about Kate being like the character Monica Geller from the TV sitcom, “Friends.”
The Prince and Princess Of Wales’ Children Are Becoming Competitive
He suggested she’s super competitive and won’t quit playing a game for hours. Kate responded that she’s “really not that competitive,” but she and William will often struggle to finish sports games like tennis, as it becomes a battle of the mind.
William and Kate’s children, Prince George, Louis, and Princess Charlotte, were also said to be becoming quite competitive, and their parents’ competitive spirit may have influenced their kids.
As they grow and change, they try out different sports. Willam and Kate think sports is a learning experience for children, teaching them values like teamwork and helping them build good leadership skills. Not to mention learning how to win or lose gracefully. William wants to teach his kids these valuable life lessons.
The couple keeps their marriage fresh and fun by playing up that competitiveness, whether it’s foot races, swimming, or even card games they love to play. They also play all types of sports with their children.
However, sometimes, games can get too serious. William has been known to make excuses to get out of family game night because it can be too competitive.
That being said, fun and games are not just for the young members of the royal family. There was nothing Queen Elizabeth loved more than a good contest.
Mike and Zara would often watch racing on TV with the late Queen. Mike said the royal family can be just as laidback as any other typical family.
