Mike Tindall, who turned 46 on October 18, is a guy’s guy, as the former rugby player has solidified himself in the royal family’s inner circle. Mike is married to the daughter of Princess Anne, Zara Tindall, who is known for being an accomplished equestrian.
Mike’s Final Weekend With His “Boys” Before The Wedding Was Wild
Tindall, whose affectionate nickname for Prince William behind closed doors is “One Pint Willy,” Mike, a seasoned beer drinker, explained that the Prince of Wales is not one of the best drinkers.
Tindall comes from a humble background compared to his royal relatives. His easygoing style was initially seen as “cheeky” and mischievous, but the royals grew to accept Tindall and embrace him.
His final weekend with “the boys” before marrying Zara resulted in a gargantuan bar bill. “I got ripped,” Mike admitted. The royal family quickly told him they had read about his boyish antics. It was in the tabloids.
Some royal family members teased him, “Had a good time, did ya? Read about it.” Mike checked into the W Hotel in South Beach, Miami, with his buddies on June 9, 2011, a little over a month before the wedding.
Mike got wasted on champagne, vodka, and tequila. His drinking tab included ten bottles of vodka, ten bottles of tequila, a bottle of sambuca, thirty-four cans of Red Bull, a bottle of vintage Perrier Jouet Brut, and Dom Perignon Rose.
An onlooker admitted at the time,
“Mike and his friends were having a complete no-hold-barred night; they were going wild.”
Mike was pictured ferociously guzzling a beer in the pool as it ran down his chest.
Mike became famous in 2003 when his rugby team won the World Cup, and he met Zara at the same time. They started dating, and he proposed to her in December 2010.
Mike Tindall And Zara Were Married In July 2011
The happy couple were married on July 30, 2011, at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh. Their wedding reception was an all-out party with a vodka fountain and shots.
The pair are well-known for their love of a good tipple. Apparently, after Queen Elizabeth left, the reception got wild, and guests partied well into the early morning hours.
In a recent interview, Mike promoted his upcoming book, “The Good, The Bad, & The Rugby.” He co-wrote the book with former England rugby fellow player James Haskell.
Mike was quoted as saying that marrying into the royal family was “easy.” You would think it would have been a major shock to his system, a “typical guy” marrying into royalty. But he took it all in stride. Zara, once known as the “royal rebel,” was tamed by Mike’s flexible and laid-back influence.
Mike and Zara are not working royals. Mike makes TV and podcast appearances and has set up several small businesses to help care for his family. Zara has several projects she works on and is involved with horse competitions. The couple have three children, Mia Grace, Lena Elizabeth, and Lucas Philip.
“Believe it or not, marrying into the royal family was easy for me. They were nice to me, and I was always nice to them. Simple, really,”
He said.
