Meghan Markle brought some classic Hollywood glamour to a charity event last night, where she honored Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles.
Meghan Wore a Dress Designed By Charles Harbison of Harbison Studio
She went to the gala solo, without her husband, Prince Harry. Meghan wore a pink strapless dress designed by Charles Harbison of Harbison Studio. It featured a black-trimmed neckline, billowing sleeves, and a black shawl, which doubled as a very long train.
Meghan accessorized with dangling onyx and diamond drop earrings. She wore her dark hair, as usual, effortlessly slicked back in a ballet-inspired bun. Many people complimented the Duchess on her old-school look.
However, others weren’t so forgiving. Brittany from Royal News Network said that Meghan’s dress was
“Horribly fitted and makes her look like a bit like a linebacker by accentuating her wide shoulders and large rib cage. Oh, that’s all sorts of awful.”
The consensus seems to be that Meghan achieved old-school Hollywood glamour, but there are those always those ready, willing, and able to slam the Duchess. According to the Daily Mail, the Fifteen Percent Pledge is a foundation that supports black-owned businesses.
“The charity’s name is a nod to fifteen percent of the United States population.”
Tina Knowles was honored for her strong advocacy and leadership, and for her commitment to empowering the African American community.
The event took place at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and was hosted to mark Black History Month and honor those who have achieved and contributed to the black community.
Other celebs in attendance included Kelly Rowland, Keke Palmer, Emme Grede, Winnie Harlow, Kim Kardashian, and Law Roach.
Meghan, who never misses a PR opportunity, posed on the red carpet with British entrepreneur Emma Grede. Emma has praised the duchess for “building something with purpose,” while Meghan was on her podcast.
Meghan’s Presence Highlighted the Cause that Brings Black Women Together
Many people took to X to praise Meghan’s presence at the gala. One user wrote,
“I’m so happy to see her there; this is a cause that brings Black women together.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s support of Tina Knowles comes after she was a guest on her podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder.”
Knowles spoke to Meghan during the episode, providing insight into how she works with her daughter, Beyoncé, and her sister, Solange.
She also offered Meghan some advice on her potential future plans to work with her children, Archie and Lilibet.
Knowles told Meghan,
“There are difficulties sometimes, because if you’re dealing with your child, you’re dealing with your mother, you know, you have disagreements.”
She added,
Working with my daughters is one of the best, and I tell them every day, ‘You belong anywhere you choose to be.”
Additionally, Charles Harbison also posted an Instagram story of him chatting it up with Meghan inside the gala, and the pair sharing a warm embrace.
In the video, Meghan looks genuinely pleased. The clip is captioned,
“Me and the Duchess in Harbison Studio.”
Auroa James established the Fifteen Percent Pledge Organization. The foundation encourages U.S. retailers to commit at least 15% of their shelf space to black-owned businesses.
The purpose of Meghan’s appearance at the gala was to highlight the organization’s message of celebration and support during Black History Month.
