Kim Kardashian has revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle demanded the removal of their photos from Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, which surfaced online the night before the royal family’s Remembrance Day.
Kim and Khloe Kardashian Were On Khloe’s Podcast Discussing “Photo-Gate”
The founder of the famous SKIMS line, Kim Kardashian, and her sister Khloe Kardashian were talking about the photo row on Khloe’s “Khloe In Wonder Land” podcast.
Remembrance Day is a time for the UK to remember and honor the fallen soldiers from the two World Wars. It’s a somber day in which all of Britain pays its respects, particularly for those soldiers from World War I, as so many British troops lost their lives.
The disappearing images created a global media frenzy and was named “photo-gate.” There had been a huge debate over who exactly wanted those pictures to be deleted.
Now we know it was the Duke and Duchess themselves. Kim Kardashian was also very clear that Harry and Meghan had given their prior consent that the photos could be shared online.
Kim explained,
“We were told that it was totally cool to post. We’re never ones to post without permission. It’s not who we are.”
The photos were taken at the star-studded bash last November. Interestingly, Harry was actually wearing a poppy on his lapel, which means they already knew, before those photos were posted, that the following day was Remembrance Day.
Harry and Meghan Lied About a Consent Form
Mere hours later, the photos had been scrubbed from the Kardashian family’s social media accounts. However, the photos had already made the rounds and were still available online. The photos had been shared with all of the Kardashians’ Instagram followers.
Harry and Meghan claimed that they had not signed a consent form for pictures to be posted. However, Kim said it was a blatant lie because these consent forms didn’t actually exist.
Harry, who is a former working royal, the founder of the Invictus Games, and a veteran himself, should have thought of Remembrance Day, especially since Harry walked in with a poppy pinned to his tux.
They really made themselves look like idiots. It’s actually worse than the photos that had been posted, and then after the fact, the Sussexes asked for them to be removed. It actually drew far more attention to them for them to ask for the photos to be deleted.
The Sussexes told Kim that they had “changed their minds” and said they wanted the pictures “taken down” because they
“didn’t want to be seen partying and dancing on the dance floor.
There is now much speculation that Harry and Meghan’s chief PR person, Meredith Maines, quit for this very reason.
The Sussexes’ Mistake Was 100 Percent Avoidable
It was the most somber day of the year for the royal family, and Harry, as a veteran, whose main platform involves veterans, shouldn’t have been partying it up with the Kardashians.
Harry and Meghan’s PR is such an epic disaster because they constantly play these games. The Kardashians seem understandably annoyed at the whole situation.
It was a mistake that was 100 percent avoidable. The Sussexes made this into a huge deal, and it’s definitely not the first time the couple pulled a ridiculous stunt like this.
Kim Kardashian made a good point,
“You got to laugh at, like, the situation sometimes, and just like, lighten up, and be if everyone’s taking it the wrong way, like, lean in.”
She even suggested turning it into a “tongue-in-cheek moment.”
On Remembrance Day, Harry and Meghan were already seen partying with celebs and other billionaires, including one of the most famous families in the world.
Interestingly, Kim pointed out that they took the photos down out of respect for Remembrance Day, but not out of respect for Harry and Meghan.
