Maurice Benard’s State of Mind makes a habit of featuring General Hospital stars, as well as other soaps. This week, Maurice Benard spoke to Josh Swickard, who plays Harrison Chase on the show. Chase has had some tough times on GH lately, as the truth of Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) feelings for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) came out. Let’s take a look at the chat and what Swickard revealed.

Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: Background

First, Maurice Benard’s State of Mind usually starts by learning a bit about where the guest came from. For Josh, he came from a religious family in small-town Illinois. In fact, he joked about the area having corn and Abraham Lincoln. However, even as he joked about not having much going on, he also expressed love for coming from that kind of area.

The conversation also went into how he got into acting and his early days training in Chicago. Benard was impressed to learn Swickard left home at 18, as that wasn’t his experience. Benard said he always had a mother figure around, so he pointed out how big a deal he thinks Josh’s early days were.

Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: Nice moment and future guests?

So, there was one part of the chat that really stood out to us. Swickard spoke about using the Pandemic shutdown as a way to connect more with his grandfather. Swickard asked him if he wanted to facetime six days a week. These conversations centered a lot around the bible as well as other topics. We loved that he had the forethought to video himself chatting with his grandfather, as that will be a great record to have for future generations.

Talking about his grandfather’s background sparked Benard’s interest enough to ask if he could chat with Swickard’s grandfather of a future Maurice Benard’s State of Mind. Swickard thinks his grandfather would love that, so we might just see a part two, so to speak, of this conversation.

Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: Family and Christmas

Besides that, Swickard talked about making a Christmas movie and it’s success on Netflix. He also spoke a lot about family and how choosing to be with one person for life inspires change in you, as does having a child. Check the video above out for more on that and other things.

Maurice Benard’s State of Mind: About GH

Finally, let’s talk GH. As is usually the case when a General Hospital co-star comes on, the talk went to that as well. Swickard spoke about his first scene and how he happened to be facing off with Sonny Corinthos (Benard) in it. It’s fun to hear about these behind the scenes moments, and we love how Benard reacts to them. Again, check out the video for more.
