Netflix The Inbetweeners tell us that during this time of lockdown, it is always important to remember to laugh, and there is no better way to do that than watching a comedy series. One of the very best to be made in the United Kingdom from the past 20 years is The Inbetweeners.

The show was redeveloped into an American show, but the British version remains the best. The Inbetweeners delves into life at a college in the UK, and the similarities are uncanny. But, be warned, it isn’t for the faint-hearted, as the humour is incredibly crude.

Netflix The Inbetweeners : Who Is In The Inbetweeners?

The show is written and created by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris. It stars Simon Bird (Will), Joe Thomas (Simon), James Buckley (Jay) and Blake Harrison (Neil). The opening season kicks off with Will being transferred to a public school after his mother and father’s divorce.

There are only 18 episodes across the three seasons, with two films thrown in for good measure. The Inbetweeners was responsible for a host of new words being branded about in British slang, and much of that was down to the fact that it was, and still is a cult series. There are moments throughout the seasons that will leave you belly-laughing. Whether that’s laughing at inappropriate comments made by Jay, or through the banter between the four main characters.

Netflix The Inbetweeners : Why Should You Watch The Inbetweeners?

During its stint on television, The Inbetweeners smashed records. The opening episode of the third season as viewed by 2.6 million people, which made it the most viewed show to ever air on E4. It also went on to win the Best TV Show at the 2010 NME Awards and the Best Comedy award at the 2012 Empire Awards.

The Inbetweeners has truly passed the test of time, and the vast majority of British people who were in their teens when the show aired still claim that it is one of the funniest shows they have ever seen, and will continue to watch it over and over. It is certainly an acquired taste, which means it may not appeal to all, but the ones that it will appeal to will not be able to stop watching.
