British Royal news says King Charles III held the first of his weekly audiences with new Prime Minister Liz Truss on Wednesday – and on display at Buckingham Palace were several photos of the royal family, including one from Harry and Meghan’s wedding. If that weren’t proof that Charles is trying to smooth things over between him and Harry and Meghan, then we don’t know what is. Here’s what you need to know.
The couple, who recently reunited with the family following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, has returned to California, as members of the firm returned to royal duties. Though many have mulled over whether ties had been mended in recent weeks, it would undoubtedly appear Charles is making an effort on his part as he approaches his coronation in May 2023. The celebrations will happen on May 6th, which just happen to be the same day as Archie’s fourth birthday. A coincidence, some think not.
There’s Some Proof That King Charles Is Trying To Smooth Things Over With Harry And Meghan
Some have pointed out the coronation falls on Harry and Meghan’s eldest child, Archie’s birthday – though royal expert Katie Nicholl tells Entertainment Tonight: “Having the coronation on Archie’s birthday is definitely not a snub. I think it’s very much a happy coincidence.”
In recent years, there have been conversations about slimming down the British monarchy – said conversations came up around the same time Harry and Meghan exited the firm. Charles, however, as king, now has the power to give prince and princess titles to all of his grandchildren, raising the question of whether or not the couple’s children will finally be given that honor.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter but at this point, it’s doubtful anything will be said. Watch this space.
