Kate Middleton’s absence at Royal Ascot signifies the Princess of Wales must still ease into her royal duties after her life-changing cancer battle.
Family And Health Are Kate Middleton’s Top Priorities
Kate shared early this year that what was most important to her was her family and health, and if 2025 has been any indication, she meant every word.
The royal beauty vowed that her return to public life would be measured and gradual. However, it was thought she would attend Royal Ascot, especially since she made such an impression with her three children at Trooping the Color.
The Princess was expected to come with her husband, Prince William, as he was presenting a trophy. Her mother, Carole Middleton, and sister, Pippa, were also there that day.
However, after Buckingham Palace’s official carriage list was released, which included Kate, she abruptly pulled out of the event, as Kensington Palace announced. Kate was supposed to have been seen in the royal procession with Prince William.
Royal aides claimed there had been an “error,” but their vague explanation didn’t answer the questions on everyone’s mind: why exactly did she cancel, and was the Princess okay?
The Palace only offered that Kate was “disappointed,” but she
“has to find the right balance as she fully returns to public-facing duties.”
No one knows exactly why Kate missed such a crucial event on the royal family calendar, but we can surmise her return to her royal duties is still a “work in progress.”
Kate, who not too long ago faced the possibility of her mortality. She was a scared young mother who, from what insiders have revealed, is lucky to be speaking of recovery.
Kate Middleton’s silence was broken three days after her absence from Royal Ascot, issuing a heartfelt message to mark Children’s Hospice Week.
Kate Posted A Heartfelt Message To Thank East Angelica’s Children’s Hospice For Their Extraordinary Work
“No parent expects to hear that their child has a serious health condition that could shorten their life,”
She lamented.
“Sadly, this is the reality faced by thousands of families across the country, leaving them heartbroken, fearful of the future, and often desperately isolated,”
Kate pointed out.
“Being able to access the support of one of the UK’s 54 children’s hospices means they don’t have to face that future alone,”
She continued.
“As patron of East Angelica’s Children’s Hospice in South Wales, I have the immense privilege of seeing for myself the extraordinary work of our children’s hospices,”
Kate added.
“Lifting spirits through laughter, fun, and play, as well as listening, holding, caring, and sharing, they support children and families through life, death, and beyond,”
She noted.
“This Children Hospice Week, I hope you will join me in celebrating the life-changing work they do and thanking them for the vital care they provide children and families experiencing the most challenging times,”
She concluded.
Kate Is Still Finding The Right Balance As Her Return To Royal Life Is “A Work In Progress.”
The cause is close to her heart, as Kate has been a Royal Patron of East Anglia’s Hospices since 2012. In January of this year, she became a patron of Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice in South Wales.
As far as Kate skipping Royal Ascot, an insider explained, “Some weeks you will see her a lot, others, not. It’s a movable feast and one that continues in the same vein.”
Essentially, Kate is aiming for a balance that combines flexibility. As the Princess of Wales, Kate plays a vital role in the monarchy, but for her, right now, balance is the key to success.
This week also brought some sweet snaps of William on his 43rd birthday with their beloved black cocker spaniel, Orla, and her adorable little puppies.
The Wales apparently decided to breed Orla as it meant something fun for their children to look forward to. They plan to keep one of the puppies, which they are very excited about.
Kate’s slow, measured approach to her royal life allows her to fully enjoy these special moments with her family.
Spending time with her family and nature continues to be Kate’s greatest healer as she moves forward cancer-free.
