Kate Middleton made a sweet visit this morning to the children’s hospice, Ty Hafan, where Princess Diana was a patron.
The Children At Ty Hafan Have Terminal Or Life-Altering Conditions
The Princess of Wales kept the children, who sadly have terminal or life-altering conditions, company as she played and interacted with the adorable youngsters.
She participated in a musical session and spoke with the children and their families. She met the family of Felix Horbes, who was at the hospice with his parents, Alex and Dan Forbes, and his sisters, Lottie and Maggie.
Kate Middleton was helping the kids create the handprints with paint to be displayed, following along the walls leading to the main entrance.
Lottie helped by painting Kate’s hand while the Princess reciprocated the gesture. After she washed off the paint, she signed “Catherine” next to the handprint, which will be put on the wall with the other children’s handprints.
“It was really warming and easy,”
Alex exclaimed about their time with Kate.
“You can tell she is a mom. It was easy to see in the way she was engaging with the girls,”
She continued.
“She was lovely. She got Lottie to come in and asked,
“Do you want to paint my hand?”
She continued,
“It’s a real memory-making day. The girls and Felix are going to remember this for the rest of their lives.”
Dan, the children’s father, shared his experience with Kate.
“it feels like you are speaking to a mom, first and foremost,”
He said.
“She will bring awareness to what this place does. We would be ignorant of what it was if we didn’t use it. It has been a massive support for us,”
He concluded.
Talking To Princess Kate Was Like Talking To Another Mother
Twelve-year-old Felix has a rare and progressive condition called Miller-Dieker Syndrome, which is a neurological disorder.
Miller Dieker Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that causes abnormal brain development called lissencephaly. It results in seizures, intellectual disabilities, breathing issues, difficulty feeding, characteristic facial features, and various other congenital disabilities.
They said talking to Kate Middleton was like talking to another mother, and she presented no airs and didn’t act like she was someone of nobility. Kate put the family at ease right away.
Kate also met five-year-old Savannah-Blu, who was suffering from Alexander’s Leukodystrophy, which has a grave outcome in childhood. She met so many brave and wonderful children who had life-shortening diagnoses but still had smiles on their faces.
Princess Kate spoke with parents of other children who have received care from the hospice. She asked how much support from the hospice helped them.
Kate was informed about the exceptional physical and emotional support the place provides. She also spoke to parents who had lost their children.
Catherine participated in playing with the musical instruments that Kensington Palace donated. Kate acknowledged that her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, would have adored the musical activity.
The family sees the similarities between Kate and Princess Diana. Kate shows care, concern, and compassion for humanity, the love of children, and the ability to form strong bonds with people.
Much like Princess Diana was admired, the families of the children appreciated Kate’s relatability and gentle nature.
