Who knew that the unveiling of the statue of the late Princess Diana would be the center of so much royal drama, yet here we are. There’s a new report that says both Prince William and Kate Middleton along with their three children got to see the Princess Diana statue before it is unveiled to the world on Thursday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also got to see it before Prince Harry, who flew in for the occasion from California earlier this week. Here’s what you need to know.

According to The Daily Mirror, the Duke of Cambridge planned a trip to view the memorial Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden for a personal moment with his family.

Sources say that Prince William wants his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to see the statue of their grandmother before it’s unveiled later this week.

Prince Harry, whose daughter Lilibet was born a few weeks ago is reportedly already in the UK.

The unveiling will take place within the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, where Diana used to spend a great deal of time chatting to the gardeners. It was also where Prince Harry and Meghan posed for their engagement photos in 2017.

The event will be a small one, as only a few close family members will be there, along with members of the statue committee, sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, whose portrait of the Queen appears on all UK coins, and garden designer Pip Morrison.

Back in 2017, Prince William and Prince Harry announced that they were jointly commissioning a statue ahead of the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death.

This will be the second time that Harry will be seeing his brother and the rest of the royal family ever since he and Meghan Markle threw everyone under the bus in their epic interview with Oprah Winfrey.

If that weren’t enough, Prince Harry recently said during the Armchair Expert podcast that his father Prince Charles had passed on “pain and suffering” to him while also suggesting that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip weren’t great parents, either.
