It looks like the ball is certainly in Prince William’s corner, especially when it comes to the ongoing royal drama between him and his brother, Prince Harry, and sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.
In fact, there’s a new report that suggests Kate Middleton’s absence at the upcoming Princess Diana statue event at Kensington Gardens is “telling on so many levels,” according to a royal insider. Here’s what you need to know.
While it hasn’t been confirmed just yet, several reports say that the Duchess of Cambridge will skip out on the event, which is set to take place on July 1st, which would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.

Meghan Markle also won’t be at the event, as she decided to opt out of the trip and stay home in California instead with her and Prince Harry’s two children: 2-year-old Archie Harrison and their newborn baby daughter, Lilibet Diana.
But a source close to the situation tells Page Six, “Catherine’s absence speaks volumes. I think keeping the numbers down is a perfect ‘excuse’ for Catherine to stay away.
William is fed up with the drama and Catherine doesn’t need to be dragged into this. They are planning a private family visit with their children, and that private moment is far more important than the public rhetoric.”
The source added, “William is determined that the Sussex drama does not overshadow this important moment of remembrance to his much-missed mother and is keeping that as his focus.”
If there’s another person who is skipping all of the royal drama, it’s Prince Charles. While both Prince William and Prince Harry will be at the event together, Prince Charles feels as though he has no reason being there and that’s why he will be 400 miles away in his Scottish estate of Balmoral, instead.
And because the Duke of Sussex will only be in the UK for a short trip, there won’t be an opportunity for him to meet up with his father and his brother for a private and much-needed discussion between the three of them.
