There’s a new report that says Queen Elizabeth has given the Duchess of Cambridge a new job, despite all of the work she has had to pick up following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the royal family. Here’s what you need to know.
The Duchess might soon be asking for overtime hours as her husband Prince William announced his wife’s new role within the royal family during a visit to the BAE Systems’ shipyard in Scotland this week.
Kate Middleton will now be the sponsor of a new naval battleship, HMS Glasgow, according to Prince William. Apparently, Queen Elizabeth II appointed the Duchess of Cambridge to the position.
Kate Middleton Gets Even More Work From Queen Elizabeth
“This role will see The Duchess supporting the crew through milestones, events and deployments over the vessel’s coming years of service,” the Royal Family said in a statement on Twitter.
The Duke of Cambridge also talked about his grandfather Prince Philip while discussing the new ship’s construction.
“My family’s affection for the Royal Navy is well known, and as I saw the work taking place here today, I was thinking of my Grandfather, The Duke of Edinburgh,” Prince William said.
“He would have been fascinated and very excited to see such advances in skills and technology being put into practice.”
According to Britain’s The Sun, William and Kate have increased their workload and have become much busier than ever before since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan gave up their royal duties.
Sources say that the couple have carried out 174 engagements this year between them. In comparison, in the same period two years ago they carried out a total of 93, just over half the number. 2020’s numbers don’t count because of the pandemic.
