It looks like Kanye West is not ready to let go just yet. That, or he is just making sure that they cross all their t’s in his separation and divorce battle from Kim Kardashian. There’s a new report that says the rapper has objected to Kim’s divorce request to her have single status restored. Here’s what you need to know.
According to new reports, Ye’s attorney has filed legal documents to object to his estranged wife from changing her status from married to single. That’s because he first wants to make sure that the couple’s assets are protected.

Legal docs say that Ye wants the court to deny Kardashian’s request to become legally single because “the motion does not provide the protections necessary for an early termination of marital status.” West’s attorney laid out those concerns in docs, saying that declaring Kardashian single “before custody, property, and support issues are resolved creates a risk of adverse consequences.”
Kanye’s lawyer says “this is especially true if one of the parties were to pass away while the case is pending.” Furthermore, West’s lawyer argues that should the court declare Kardashian legally single, it would create “barriers to obtaining evidence if a party remarries before the case is concluded.”
Earlier this month, Kanye called out Kim for suggesting that she is their four children’s main provider. Kanye posted a screenshot from the TikTok to his own Instagram, writing, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL ?”
Of course it didn’t take very long for Kim to respond. She hit back with “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.”
Kim, who shares four children with Kanye, went on to describe herself as “the main provider and caregiver for our children.”
“I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness,” Kim continued.
