It looks like Chad Daybell will be the only one who will be showing up for the Jan. 9th, 2923 hearing for the murders of 16 year old Ty Lee Ryan and little 8 year old JJ Vallow because it would seem that the judge in the case has suspended the Lori Vallow Daybell case until her mental competency can be confirmed.

Now, this has gone back and forth several times, the first time she had to be institutionalized to get her mental health to a level that was competent to stand trial, and then after she spent a few months at an institution in Iowa, a judge determined that she was competent enough to stand trial, but it seems something has happened between them and now.

    So what changed?

We’re not entirely sure. This is just speculation and not in any way offering sympathy to Mrs. Vallow, but it would be only natural if, when properly medicated she realized just what she had done and the gravity of the situation and her mental health worsened with all the remorse she was feeling over killing her children. That would make perfect sense.

However that doesn’t exactly line up with the story that was told a few months back when she was arraigned where they said that she understood the charges but that she didn’t seem to be remorseful or show much emotion at all when the charges were read. She just seemed to know why she was there, which, one could argue is a basic level of competency but without the remorse one has to wonder if she has come full circle or not.

A judge seems to think not.

There is also the fact that Vallow’s defense lawyers could be trying to build a case against Daybell. If they could manage to argue that Vallow was an abused wife who was brainwashed into killing her children by her husband then a jury might look at that differently than just a plea of temporary insanity.

But the plea would only work if Vallow managed to fully deconstruct from her former beliefs, and that takes a willingness that, we’re not sure that Vallow has shown so far, unless she is a different person altogether around her lawyer, which could very well be the case. We’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
