‘Jeopardy!’ history has been made again and again by the current champion, Amy Schneider who is finishing 2021 strong! Last Friday, Amy became the highest-earning female contestant in the quiz show’s over five-decade run.

Amy’s 18th consecutive win on Christmas Eve brought her total earnings to $706,800, surpassing previous record-holder Larissa Kelly by over $50,000. What’s even more impressive is that Larissa’s earnings of $655 930 include her Tournament of Champions winnings whereas Amy is yet to make her (guaranteed) Tournament of Champions appearance.

If that wasn’t enough, Amy has also broken the records set by Julia Collins. Until last week Julia had held the record for most money earned by a woman in regular gameplay on Jeopardy! Julia also held the title of longest winning streak by a woman, being the Jeopardy! champion 20 days in a row.

On Wednesday, Amy overtook Julia, winning her 21st game.

During her time on the extremely popular game show, Amy has gained quite the fanbase, including Larissa who tweeted out when Amy broke her highest-earning female contestant record.

“Well, it was fun to hold a Jeopardy record for a few years…but it’s been even more fun to watch @Jeopardamy set new standards for excellence, on the show and off. Congratulations to Amy on becoming the woman with the highest overall earnings in the show’s history!”

With the same level of respect for the woman who had inspired her, Amy replied “Thanks so much, I’m honored to be in your company, and I look forward to someday watching the woman who beats us both!”

Amy is now “playing with the boys”. The last records to beat are highest earnings in regular gameplay and longest streak ever- both records currently held by  current host and certified Jeopardy! G.O.A.T. Ken Jennings. Ken earned $2,520,700 over his 74 day run. Amy may also gun for the title of highest Jeopardy! money-winner ever (including tournaments), currently held by Brad Rutter with a gobsmacking $5,053,436 in winnings.

To do that she will have to kill it in the next Tournament of Champions but she will have some stiff competition in the form of Matt Amodio who won $1,519,601  over his 38 day winning streak earlier this year.

This is going to be an awesome Tournament of Champions, whenever it may be. While we wait for that announcement, watch Amy on Jeopardy! weeknights on ABC!
