Miss Nasty can forgive him, then surely the rest of the world can, too. There’s a new report that suggests Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake are actually good friends, despite the 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction seen around the world. Here’s what you need to know.

According in the Lifetime and A&E documentary “Janet,” Janet Jackson herself says that she and Justin are still good friends, despite everything that had happened between them in the past. “Honestly, this whole thing was blown way out of proportion,” the chart topper said.

“And, of course, it was an accident that should not have happened, but everyone is looking for someone to blame and that’s gotta stop,” she continued. “Justin and I are very good friends and we will always be very good friends.”

What’s more, Janet added that she and Justin had just spoken a few days ago, too. “He and I have moved on and it’s time for everyone else to do the same,” she said.

Another Hulu do, called Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson, looked at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, which saw Justin Timberlake briefly expose Jackson’s breast to millions of viewers. Jackson’s career never recovered but Timberlake went from strength-to-strength. Janet  Jackson performed live with Jessica Simpson and Justin Timberlake, who ripped Jackson’s outfit at the end of their duet.

Critics believe the act, deemed a wardrobe malfunction, was actually a misogynistic attack on Janet Jackson’s career. Justin Timberlake has since apologized both to Janet and his ex Britney Spears for their highly publicized split in 2002.

“I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism,” his statement read in part.
