There are new reports that say Jamie Spears took out a hefty loan before he began controlling his daughter Britney Spears’ finances back in 2008. Apparently Jamie took out a loan for $40,000 before Britney was put under her conservatorship. Here’s what you need to know.

Page Six says that Jamie got the loan from business manager Lou Taylor’s company, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group. This was at the same time that the singer was hospitalized on an involuntary psychiatric hold. After Jamie secured the loan, he petitioned a California court to take control of the singer’s estate and personal affairs.

He argued at the time that he needed to take care of his daughter’s estate – and be paid for it at the same time – because of her mental health crisis. With that said, it is unclear what Jamie used the loan for.

Back in November, Britney said that she wanted to see both of her parents – which also includes her mother Lynne Spears – in jail for their participation in her almost 14-year conservatorship in which she had no control of her own life, both personally and professionally speaking.

She shared a video on her Instagram page that said, “Honestly it still blows my mind every day I wake up how my family and the conservatorship were able to do what they did to me … it was demoralizing and degrading !!!!”

“I’m not even mentioning all the bad things they did to me which they should all be in jail for … yes including my church going mother !!!!” the “Stronger” singer continued. “I’m used to keeping peace for the family and keeping my mouth shut … but not this time … I have NOT FORGOTTEN and I hope they can look up tonight and know EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN !!!!”

Britney also added that she loves having “the keys to my car and being able to be independent and feel like a woman.”

“I’m a very strong woman so I can only imagine what the system has done to those people,” she continued. “Hopefully my story will make an impact and make some changes in the corrupt system.”

A few weeks before the conservatorship ended, Lynne flew to Los Angeles to try to reconnect with Britney,” one source close to the situation told Page Six.
