Back in 2017, Selena Gomez had to have a kidney transplant due to having the autoimmune disease, lupus. Her friend, Francia Araisia, whom she was living with at the time, volunteered and an article as well as a picture of the two girls in the hospital together was published.
Francia Arasia is an actress in her own right, has been in several TV shows including The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Grown-ish, so while she may not have Wizards of Waverly Place fame, she’s still in the industry. In 2018 after the article was published, she said she didn’t want to just be known as Selena Gomez’s kidney donor however, so the radar has kind of dropped off of her.
Is Selena Gomez still friends with Francia Arasia?
That being said, there are rumors circulating around social media that she and Selena are no longer friends because Selena was drinking with her new kidney.
Apparently, you’re not supposed to after a kidney transplant and rumor has it that Francia was not okay with Selena using her new body party to live irresponsibly – but so far that’s just a rumor, there has been no real proof of Francia actually saying anything. The closest thing that can be found is a tiktok where Selena was joking about drinking and responded to a snarky commenter telling them that it was, indeed, a joke.
But considering Selena’s documentary just aired on Apple TV and there was no mention of Francia anywhere and the whole entire kidney transplant ordeal was simply just glossed over, one has to wonder, did anything actually happen between those two that made them distant with each other?
We’d say it was simply timing and scheduling being off, but Selena’s documentary was filmed over the course of six years, and she did document her mental health journey where she had to go into a mental facility for a little while due to her bi-polar disorder, so why was this part not addressed?
Over the summer the two filmed some tiktoks together, but this past week Selena was reported saying in an interview with Rolling Stone that her practically her only real friend within the industry was Taylor Swift. So which is it?
Francia responded to this quote in a now deleted tweet saying, “Interesting.” a tiktok creator commented on this, which caused Selena herself to respond with, “Sorry I didn’t mention everybody I know.” some people were saying that Selena meant friends within the music industry and not the industry as a whole but the comment has a lot of people up in arms, Francia gives up her kidney for her but Taylor Swift is her only real friend?
Interesting, indeed. It would seem that Selena still follows Francia on her social media but Francia doesn’t follow her back, and also Selena’s Mom unfollowed Francia at some point but we’re not sure when. Again, Selena and Francia haven’t actually said anything but sometimes silence speaks volumes. Stay tuned!!!
