British Royal Family News is asking is Queen Elizabeth really ‘in charge’ of the monarchy? That’s what a lot of fans and critics alike can’t help but wonder as there were reports that suggested the Queen was more saddened than upset over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
But then again, how much does the Queen really know, and how much to her royal advisers tell her? That’s what fans want to know.
While Queen Elizabeth is certainly the face of the monarchy, her grandson Prince Harry hinted that it might be her advisers who are really running the show.

In fact, Harry told Oprah about how he was blocked from seeing his own grandmother after she had invited both him and Meghan Markle to discuss their decision to leave the royal family in January of 2020.
Harry said, “She’d just invited me. So I rang her from Frogmore that night and said: ‘I was thinking about coming anyway but I hear you’re now busy. And she said: ‘Yes, there’s something in my diary that I didn’t know that I had.’”
Harry added that he didn’t want to push, because he knew what was actually going on behind the scenes. Oprah then asked, “But doesn’t the Queen get to do what the Queen wants to do?”
After a pause, Harry added, “No. When you’re head of the firm, there’s people around you that give you advice. And what has also made me really sad is that some of that advice has been really bad.”
Of course, many royal critics and fans alike took to their social media accounts to weigh in on the matter. Some commented with, “I’ve said this before: it’s clear the queen isn’t in control anymore and that she is surrounded by some awful aides and advisers. She needs to start firing people and issue a public word of sympathy (maybe even an apology) and then effectively put a stop to this leaking if she wants to save their international image,” along with, “I doubt she’s been in charge for years but she still managed to wield enough influence in protecting her favourite son. The handling of the Sussexit fall out crisis proves a house in disarray. Sadly Will Jong-un the statesman is too stupid to hire non sycophantic aides and advisers and his dad only cares about his mistress turned wife.”
Another critic wrote, “I’m getting the feeling that the Queen didn’t actually know how bad it was until the interview. I doubt anyone told her or allowed Meghan to tell her that she was suicidal while pregnant and denied help. I don’t think the Queen realized all the coverage was full of racist dog whistles—she may not be that culturally with it to even know what “straight outta Compton” means and implies. And she likely had no idea that the press were getting their smear quotes and negative stories directly from the palace staffers and courtiers and even the royal family.”
