Don’t you just hate it whenever you have a job to do and there are two people out there who get all of the attention and credit, just because of who they are? Well, Prince Edward must be thinking that to himself these days as there’s a new report that suggests his royal role might be overshadowed by none other than Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton. According to reports, Prince Edward is supposedly none too pleased that when he sent a message to paralympic athletes at the Tokyo Games this week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did the same thing a few hours later. And needless to say, William and Kate’s message sure got a whole lot more attention than his.
Is Prince Edward Being Overshadowed By Prince William And Kate Middleton?
The Earl’s video message was posted on the Royal Family’s Twitter and Instagram accounts in which he said: “As the moment this year’s Paralympic Games in Tokyo gets ever closer to actually getting underway, I want to wish you the very best of luck. While parts of the experience will be slightly surreal, in particular the lack of any spectators, I hope these won’t detract from the main purpose, which is of course the competition. You can be sure that your family, friends and supporters will be there in spirit, following it all on a screen and expending plenty of energy and frustration by shouting at it, fruitlessly.”
William and Kate, who are both athletes in their own right, sent a message that also said: “Wishing ParalympicsGB and all the athletes from around the world the best of luck in this year’s #Paralympics. We can’t wait to see the talent and skill displayed over the next two weeks #ImpossibleToIgnore.”
Of course, it was William and Kate who got all of the headlines, and not Prince Edward. Meanwhile, the Paralympic Games, with the sporting action starting on Wednesday, will feature 539 events across 22 sports hosted at 21 venues, but spectators are barred because of the pandemic.
