Speculation is circulating that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be moving to Portugal soon. The Sussexes are no doubt nervous about the impending Trump administration.
A Move To Portugal Would Allow Harry And Meghan To Acquire A Golden Visa
Portugal’s climate is said to resemble Montecito, California, which might help Prince Harry and Meghan Markle transition to their new home.
If they were to move to Europe, they would be closer to the royal family, as it is only a short distance from there to the UK.
If the couple moves to Portugal, they may be able to acquire a Golden Visa and have free access to travel within the European Union and Schengen Area.
Essentially, a Golden Visa allows them to become European residents through their purchase of a piece of real estate or property. This is the perfect place for Harry and Meghan to screw up in yet another country.
Visa-free access appeals to Meghan. When Harry and Meghan got engaged in November 2017, Kensington Palace said that Meghan planned to apply for British citizenship. Still, she never tried to because she intended to lure Harry out of the UK the minute she had the chance.
Their new home, worth over $4.7 million, is close to Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank’s home in Portugal. Eugenie and Jack have split their time between Portugal and the UK for years.
Royal experts have suggested that Harry and Meghan have a backup plan. Trump will soon be in the White House.
A royal source has said that the Duke and Duchess are desperate to reconnect with the royal family since their Megxit has failed miserably.
According to insiders, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle feel that their life in the US hasn’t worked out for them, and they want a fresh start.
Prince Harry Lied On His Visa Application About His Drug Use
The couple is also likely worried, as the Trump family made a barrage of negative comments about them. In August, Trump’s son, Eric, called Harry and Meghan “spoiled apples.” He said that Harry would likely be deported if his father was elected.
“You can happily have these two,”
Eric added.
“We might not want them anymore. It feels like they are on an island of their own.”
The controversy started when it was discovered that Harry lied on his visa application about his drug use. In his tell-all memoir, “Spare,” he admits to having used marijuana, cocaine, and magic mushrooms to heal the pain caused by his mother, Princess Diana’s tragic death.
While Judge Nichols ruled that the application should remain private, the conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, wants to reopen the case.
The Biden administration has protected Harry, but Trump won’t be so gracious. The president-elect feels that Harry and Meghan betrayed Queen Elizabeth and that Harry shouldn’t receive special privileges.
While the Trumps have trashed Harry and Meghan, the pair has made some hostile remarks about Trump. In 2016, Meghan called Trump “divisive” and a “misogynist.”
Trump has clarified that he wouldn’t protect Harry if he won the election. “He would be on his own if it were down to me, “he said. Trump’s win is not good news for the Sussexes.
