Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have demonstrated that they don’t respect the no-half-in, half-out rule Queen Elizabeth tried to impose on the couple when they stepped down as working royals in January 2020.
Harry And Meghan’s Trip To Nigeria Looked Like A Royal Visit
The Sussexes had some nerve on their recent jaunt to Nigeria, as the people of that country believed that the Duchess was a Princess, and they didn’t even bother to correct them.
The whole tour had the feel of a royal visit, as the Duke and Duchess spoke to children, met with military soldiers, and championed Harry’s Invictus Games, as the country is in the running to host the competition in the future.
As far as meaningful and productive trips go, all boxes were checked. It really looked like a tour that was planned and orchestrated by the Firm.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be planning future trips like this following their successful visit to Nigeria. All this while the royal family is postponing engagements that appear to distract from the election.
Not to mention, King Charles and Kate Middleton are battling through their respective cancer journeys, treatment, and recovery.
Royal expert Tom Quinn said senior members anticipate and accept that they will be overshadowed by Harry and Meghan and their unique brand of self-promotion.
Buckingham Palace is reportedly in intense damage limitation talks due to the fear that the Sussexes are upstaging them.
A source close to Harry and Meghan shared, “There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana; everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth. Idris Elba, who DJ’d at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, is a regular too; he is part Ghanaian and loves spending time back home.”
The Countless Times Harry And Meghan Upstaged The Royal Family
This isn’t the first time Harry and Meghan have upstaged the royal family. The Sussexes released their Netflix “Harry and Meghan” trailer during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s US tour.
The promotional trailer was posted online on the second day of the Wales high-profile visit to Boston. Of course, the Duke and Duchess had nothing to say about their decision. However, team Sussex was very happy about Harry and Meghan’s timing.
And the second part of the Netflix series aired the same day as Kate’s carol service.
Camilla was furious after pictures of Meghan at the National Theater were released as she was set to launch the Women of the World Festival in London.
Meghan’s thoughtlessness sparked anger, as insiders said she
“refused to listen to the pleas of staff and not issue those images.”
In January 2023, Harry promoted his controversial tell-all memoir, “Spare,” before Kate’s 41st birthday party. Anderson Cooper interviewed him on 60 minutes the day before Kate’s birthday.
The bombshell memoir itself upstaged the monarchy with its incessant accusations and endless lies about Harry’s family.
Harry and Meghan announced their first pregnancy during Princess Eugenie’s wedding, for crying out loud. Talk about stealing the spotlight.
The list goes on and on. Harry and Meghan have no shame when overshadowing the royal family, and the damage must be mitigated.
