It’s no secret that Meghan Markle thinks highly of herself and makes that blatantly obvious when reporters interview her.
Meghan Markle Puffs Herself Up
The Duchess puffs herself up every chance she gets. Yet, you can also tell she is trying hard to make herself sound relatable.
In a very telling YouTube video called “Early Signs That Meghan Markle Would Clash With the Royal Family,” Meghan is interviewed by host Jaclyn Johnson at Create Cultivate Atlanta interview.
You can see in the video how she utilizes several methods to come across as humble while still making her accomplishments seem unattainable and far more impressive than they are.
There are also notable clips from Meghan’s Larry King Interview, her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah, and her engagement interview. You can use this video to analyze your daily conversations.
Meghan Markle always speaks in interviews as if she is auditioning for an acting role. So many of her interviews are almost identical to each other. She appears to use her words to control every situation, making her seem insincere, almost like she’s self-branding.
She constantly uses words like “amazing,” “awesome,” “interesting,” “organic,” “deep,” and “profound” in every interview to describe her life. She sneaks in a lot of self-praise and repeats herself to ensure that everyone knows how “awesome,” “interesting,” “deep,” and “profound” she is.
The Duchess also claims during her interviews that she’s “dear friends” with various influential people. People must see her as “somebody.” She associates with these people but doesn’t seem to have an actual friendship with them.
Meghan Uses Impression Management to Control Every Situation
Meghan makes her lifestyle and food blog website, “The Tig,” sound extraordinary and different from every other website. She talks about how she got her idea for the “Tig” from what she refers to as an “Ah-Ha” moment in which she finally understood when people talked about the complexity of wine, namely a specific wine called Tignanello, which is a super intense Italian red wine.
During the Jaclyn Johnson interview, she ignores Jaclyn when she tries to participate in the conversation as she continues her exaggerated self-branding. She even raises her voice in an effort to be heard over Jaclyn.
Meghan uses “impression management” to control how others see her instead of allowing others to decide about her.
Meghan also uses “humblebrag” to use self-critical statements as a disguise to draw attention to something she has achieved.
The Duchess also makes it a point to explain that she used to have to crawl into her old, tiny car through the backseat to drive and that she “never thought her life would be that awesome,” referring to her role on “Suits.” Her goal is to, once again, remind everyone what she has achieved.
The entire point for Meghan is to deliver well-rehearsed monologues as if they were auditions. She uses the word “empowerment” out of context and reads more like self-glorification.
Meghan wants her life and accomplishments to sound so unique and interesting that everything she has done has never been done before. Her lack of self-awareness is astounding.
