British Royal News says that they are going to have to wait a little bit longer for their party to roll around. There’s a new report that says Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t be having  a lavish investiture ceremony for their new titles like William’s father had. They may not even have one at all. Here’s what you need to know.

As many royal fans might recall, the then Prince Charles, who was created the Prince of Wales in 1958, was given an big televised investiture by the Queen in 1969. It was held at Caenarfon Castle against the backdrop of protests by Welsh nationalists over the imposition of a new Prince of Wales.

William and Kate however have no plans to stage anything similar and will instead focus on strengthening their own relationship with communities across Wales. The couple are making their first visit to the nation since the King made them the Prince and Princess of Wales in his speech on the day after the Queen’s death. They’ve returned to Anglesey in the north west of the country, where they both lived for three years when Prince William was a search and rescue helicopter pilot in the RAF. They will also visit a community church in Swansea in South Wales.

Meanwhile, William and Kate greeted volunteers and operational staff and praised their work during events surrounding the Queen’s committal service in Windsor. The pair, who wore black as they continued to observe the royal mourning period, met about 30 people at Windsor Guildhall last week.

Prince William told a member of the logistics team that “certain moments catch you out” as they spoke about the last few days. The prince said: “If you flip it on its head, it is always very comforting that so many people care. It makes it a lot better. There are certain moments that catch you out. You are prepared for all but certain moments catch you out.”

He added: “It is the things you don’t expect that get to you,” adding that he got “choked up” over the Paddington tributes.
