Whoa. Now that’s a lot of picket change for Dalgona candies. There’s a new report that says Squid Game has made a whopping amount of money for the online streaming giant Netflix, according to leaked data. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, Squid Game has generated a whopping $891 million for Netflix. Bloomberg says that leaked internal reports say that Squid Game has a value closing in on a billion dollars, a figure based on data on viewing habits from the streamer’s subscribers.

Here’s How Much Squid Game Has Made For Netflix

Squid Game only had a budget of $21.4 million for the entire series, making it one of Netflix’s cheapest hits. Just to compare, Netflix has spent $100 million to sign a production deal with Shonda Rhimes, who also produced the massively popular Bridgerton for the online streaming service.

With that said, attorneys for Netflix did reach out to Bloomberg and said it would be “inappropriate” to publish the numbers and that “Netflix does not discuss these metrics outside the company and takes significant steps to protect them from disclosure.”

In the first month, Squid Game was watched by over 111 million Netflix users, making it the most popular series launch ever, beating raunchy period drama Bridgerton, which was watched by 82 million households in its first month. The company has 209 million subscribers worldwide.

It’s been noted that Netflix counts a viewer as anyone who watches the show for at least two minutes, meaning that not every viewer necessarily finished the series.

It is Netflix’s first Korean programme to become the most popular series in the US and follows from the company’s efforts to increase its offering of international shows.
