Has Hilaria Baldwin been all but canceled? That’s what fans can’t help but wonder as Alec Baldwin’s wife has basically admitted that she is a “white girl” who was born in Boston and not in Mallorca, as was previously stated and even assumed.
This comes after one Twitter user went on the record to say “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.”
Has Hilaria Baldwin Been All But Canceled?
While Hilaria herself didn’t clarify who she is or why she changed her name and decided to put on a Spanish accent, she did post on Instagram, “I’ve seen chatter online questioning my identity and culture. This is something I take very seriously, and for those who are asking— I’ll reiterate my story, as I’ve done many times before. I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the USA. We celebrate both cultures in our home—Alec and I are raising our children bilingual, just as I was raised. This is very important to me. I understand that my story is a little different, but it is mine, and I’m very proud of it.”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for the Internet to weigh in on the controversy and wonder if this has Hilaria canceled or not. There were also a lot of people who sympathized with Hilaria, and others who knew her before she married Alec that said she was a very good, decent person before fame and celebrity hit.
Some comments included, “She seems like she is always seeking some kind of validation or attention. She puts herself out there a lot. Her parents were professors? Maybe they were busy a lot and perhaps there was a time in her childhood where they just didn’t give her the attention a growing child needs,” along with, “It’s normal to love another culture or find another accent or language more romantic or sexy, etc. We ALL get it and understand. It’s quite another to take on an accent that is not yours along with a heritage and culture that were never yours to tell your life story and profit”
Another social media user put it this way, “I feel sorry for her in a way. Every one of her classmates that posted something on twitter says she was very kind. Her stepdaughter Ireland has come out singing he praises as a good person, who has been very good to her and her father and is a great mother. She’s defending her, while not stating that it’s a lie.”
So far Hilaria has not made any additional comments about the controversy but did say that she was planning on taking a break from social media.
